SMU AI Finance: Coursework Evidence Guide

SMU reported that the Young Talent Programme for AI in Finance is designed to help Singapore university students build applied AI and financial-sector skills through a bootcamp, coursework, industry projects, and internships. The pilot begins in August 2026 with 20 financial institutions involved.

For students, the useful lesson is broader than finance. AI coursework is becoming more evidence-led: prompts, data choices, risk controls, model outputs, and business judgement all need to be explained.

SMU's report says the programme covers foundations of AI and financial data literacy, prompt engineering, responsible AI, data governance, security, auditability, and applications in risk management, technology, operations, regulatory compliance, and investment research.
